Sin

by Jay Robledo

Oh God, I am hated!

Hold me in Your hand and

Crush me like a leaf!

Let my brokenness sooth my oppressors

Let justice pool in your palms

And soak the heavens with its fragrance

Wring me; let them think me dead

Why etch me in stone?

But mercy, mercy, I pray

I be put back on the branch

Let me sway, moved by your breath

Siblings, I am healed

Prologue

Back when I was coloring comic books, I remember being so bored with it that my mind would start playing scenes from movies and TV shows as I worked. My hand would move on its own, finishing the job while I played some of my favorite scenes over and over again. Weeks before I quit, I could make my own movies in my head.
